Brief introduction to aluminium alloy coil
Aluminum alloy coil is an aluminum product, usually in coil form. It is made from aluminum plate or aluminum alloy sheet by rolling process. Aluminum coils are characterized by having a certain width and length, but are relatively thin. Aluminum coils are usually supplied in roll form and can therefore be easily used to manufacture a variety of products and components. We produce a large number of aluminum coils, aluminum sheets, and other processed aluminum profiles. Examples include aluminum curtain wall profiles, aluminum door and window profiles, aluminum solar profiles, and basic aluminum profiles.
What are the features of aluminum coil?
1. Aluminum coils are highly resistant to weathering and corrosion. Because aluminum naturally produces a thin but effective oxide layer that inhibits further oxidation.
2. Easy to process and cast. Because coil aluminum melts more easily than steel, it has more flexibility and is easy to pour into molds.
3. Lightweight and durable. Because of its low density, aluminum coil is lightweight and portable, which makes it the metal of choice in aircraft manufacturing.
4. Non-magnetic and non-sparking. Because aluminum is non-magnetic due to its crystalline structure and does not produce sparks as any scratches will quickly form an oxide layer.
5. Soft. Because aluminum alloy coils are soft and have free electrons that can be used for bonding.
6. Ductile. It is one of the second most malleable metals and can be used to turn it into wire.
How are aluminum coils made?
1. Melting aluminum ingots.
2. Casting: Molten aluminum is cast into a block shape called an aluminum billet. This billet is the raw material for aluminum coils.
3. Hot or cold rolling: Aluminum billets are processed into thinner coils through the process of hot or cold rolling. In the hot rolling process, the aluminum billet is passed through a roll mill at high temperature to reduce its thickness. In cold rolling, the aluminum billet is passed through a roll mill at room temperature to reduce its thickness.
4. Coil processing: Aluminum coils undergo coil processing, which may include cutting, planing, coating, stranding and other processing steps to meet specific application requirements.
5. Quality inspection and packaging: The finished aluminum alloy coils are usually quality inspected to ensure that they meet standards. They are then cut to appropriate lengths and packaged into coils.
