People who may not know much about aluminum profiles do not know that aluminum profiles of the same brand also have different states. The common states of 6063 aluminum profiles are T4\T5\T6. Among them, the hardness of T4 state is the lowest, and the hardness of T6 state is the highest.

T is the meaning of treatment in English, and the following 4, 5, and 6 represent the heat treatment method. In technical terms, T4 state is solution treatment + natural aging; T5 state is solution treatment + incomplete artificial aging; T6 state is solution treatment + artificial complete aging. In fact, this is not entirely correct for 6063 grade aluminum profiles.

The T4 state of the 6063 aluminum profile is that the aluminum profile is extruded from the extruder and then cooled, but not put into the aging furnace for aging. Unaged aluminum profiles have low hardness and good deformability, and are suitable for later deformation processing such as bending.

6063-T5 is the one we produce most often. It is air-cooled and quenched after extrusion, and then transferred to an aging furnace to keep the temperature at about 200 degrees for 2-3 hours. The state of the aluminum profile can reach T5 after being released. The aluminum profile in this state has relatively high hardness and certain deformability. Therefore, most architectural aluminum profiles and industrial aluminum profiles are in this state.

The 6064-T6 state is quenched by water cooling, and the artificial aging temperature after quenching will be higher, and the holding time will be longer to achieve a higher hardness state. In fact, our company can also meet the hardness requirements of T6 by using strong air cooling and quenching. 6063-T6 is suitable for occasions with high requirements on material hardness.
